HELPING OUT

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Ages 14 and older

If your office, youth group, social club or place of worship is looking for a volunteer activity, Food Lifeline will appreciate the gift of your time. If you are an individual that is retired, a student, or someone with a little free time, we can help keep you busy. If you are looking for a different way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or want to make a positive impact on your community, we can help!

Group Volunteering and Tours

Groups of 8 or more, ages 6 and older!

Volunteer groups are the cornerstone of our volunteer program.  We often work with over 50 unique volunteer groups each month at our Shoreline Volunteer Repack Center.  Businesses, schools, social clubs, faith-based groups, service organization and youth groups all pitch in to help feed the hungry.  Learn more and request a session.

Individual Volunteers

Individual volunteers are needed to support our administrative offices, pick up food donations, sort and inspect food in the warehouse, and help at special events.  We often work with high school or college students to meet their required community service needs.  Court-mandated opportunities are available. Learn more and get started volunteering.

Save the Day (Last Minute Opportunities)

Individuals and Groups, ages 6 and older!

Join the Food Lifeline Volunteer Team for a “last minute” Save the Day volunteer session at our Shoreline Volunteer Repack Center. Typically, our volunteer sessions fill up 3 to 4 weeks in advance, but occasionally we have last minute opportunities and this is where you can find them! Online registration is required.

Community Volunteer Night

Individuals and Groups of 5 or less, ages 6 and older!

Join us each Wednesday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. to help sort, label and repackage food for distribution at our Shoreline Volunteer Repack Center. Online registration is required.

Special Events

A few times a year we have the need for volunteers to help support specific special events.  Volunteers are needed annually in May to help with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, in July for Bite of Seattle, and year-round to host Food & Fund Drives, and for various other activities.

Internships

We have the perfect opportunity for you to learn new skills, try out a new field, or explore a career in non-profits. Choose the specific department at Food Lifeline that most closely matches your experience or your educational/career interest, and we can work with you to meet your individual requirements and give you a meaningful internship experience.  Email volunteer@fll.org if you would like to learn more or to submit an internship request.
