Each September, people across America unite to take action against hunger, one of our nation’s most pressing issues. This year, we encourage everyone to participate in
Hunger Action Month.
HUNGER IN WESTERN WASHINGTONHunger affects communities all across the country—rural, urban, and suburban. The USDA reports that nearly 49 million people in American are uncertain of where they will find their next meal, including over 16 million children. Closer to home, in Western Washington 1 in 6 people, and 1 in 4 children are at risk of going hungry. HUNGER ACTION MONTHSeptember is Hunger Action Month, when the Feeding America network unites to urge individuals to take action in their communities. As a member of Feeding America, Food Lifeline collects donations of food from restaurants, grocery stores, farmers and manufactures and distributes it to nearly 300 neighborhood food banks and meal programs across Western Washington.
