A Checking Account with Great Perks
Food Lifeline is able to continue feeding hungry people throughout Western Washington because of your generous support and the help of such organizations as the Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union (SMCU). One of the perks of opening a “Feel Good Checking” account at SMCU is 100 free meals - 100 meals for hungry people, that is! If you’re thinking of switching banks or opening a new account, keep in mind “Feel Good Checking” with SMCU, because they give you the chance to raise money for Food Lifeline while getting one of the best checking accounts around. SMCU donates $20 to Food Lifeline for each account opened, and this is enough money to provide food for 100 meals. As the demand in our member food banks continues to increase, this is one way you can help us meet that need and get food to the hungry people in our communities who need it most. When the time comes to open a new checking account, be sure to think of Food Lifeline and SMCU, and pass the word along to others who might be interested. Visit https://www.smcu.com/accounts/feel-good.html for more information. |

Bag Hunger Luncheon 2009
More than $110,000 was raised to provide more than 550,000 meals toward ending hunger and fulfilling dreams for children in Western Washington at Food Lifeline’s 12th Annual Bag Hunger Luncheon on September 17th. Nearly 300 guests joined us for a moving program highlighted by keynote speaker James Whitfield, former regional Director for Region 10 for the Health and Human Services Department. Mr. Whitfield spoke about the reality that we all are “hungry” for something and yet for some children, their actual hunger prevents them from achieving great things. Food Lifeline presented five Ending Hunger Awards to honor those individuals and donors who have gone above and beyond their traditional role to support Food Lifeline’s mission to end hunger. Award winners:
Emcees Tom Douglas and Thierry Rautureau kept the event lively, and Food Lifeline President & CEO Linda Nageotte’s heartfelt comments culminated in an unveiling of Food Lifeline’s new logo. Thank you to Title Sponsor Moneytree, Inc. and to Contributing Sponsor The Boeing Company for making this compelling event possible. We also offer tremendous thanks to all our table sponsors, table captains and committee members. |

| We Took a "Bite" out of Hunger
Crowds of people, good food, and hundreds of Food Lifeline supporters at the Bite of Seattle® -- what could be better? The Alley, hosted by Tom Douglas sponsored by Painted Hills Natural Beef was a huge success. Visitors to The Alley enjoyed delectable tastes from top local chefs while also helping their neighbors in need through Food Lifeline. The Alley raised more than $28,000 in net proceeds for Food Lifeline, and we had 69 volunteers stationed at donation boxes around the Seattle Center to help reach this amount. Thank you to all who visited The Alley at the Bite of Seattle®, and to our wonderful volunteers who shared their weekend with us. |
