Food Lifeline CEO Wins Award for Leadership in Hunger-Relief

Food Lifeline’s President and CEO, Linda Nageotte, was named the 2012 John van Hengel Fellow at the Feeding America Network Summit on April 19. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate strategic leadership, local impact, national influence, long-time commitment and a visionary/entrepreneurial spirit in the area of hunger-relief.

The annual award honors the ideals of the late John van Hengel, a soup kitchen volunteer and community activist credited with founding the nation’s first food bank in 1967. Previous award recipients include Jan Pruitt of the North Texas Food Bank and Bill Bolling, Founder and Executive Director of the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

This is the second award for leadership and innovation Linda has received in as many years; she was named Food Bank Executive Director of the Year in 2010.
