Tom Douglas Named 2012 James Beard Outstanding Restaurateur

May 7, 2012

The James Beard Foundation bestows this exclusive and much sought after award to individuals who "set high national standards in restaurant operations and entrepreneurship." In the food world, being recognized as the JBF Outstanding Restaurateur is like winning an Academy Award.

Despite opening 5 new restaurants in the past year and owning a total of 13 food establishments, Tom Douglas manages to find time to give back to his community. His activism on Food Lifeline's board of directors has helped shine a light on the issue of hunger in Western Washington and resulted in a tremendous increase in awareness, donated food, and resources for Food Lifeline's network of food banks, meals programs, and shelters.

Tom is more than an Outstanding Restaurateur: he is an outstanding individual. Congratulations Tom, from the staff, agencies, and volunteers of Food Lifeline.
