Teacher Delivers Food to School Families in Need

By November 23, 2020No Comments

We hear a lot of stories about teachers who go above and beyond to help their students learn, grow, and thrive. We’re proud to have a teacher like that here in the Seattle area. Katy and several of her friends travel to North Seattle College every week to pick up food. But it’s not for them. Katy and her friends take the food and distribute it to Seattle Public Schools families hit hard by the effects of the pandemic.

“Kids need food. Families need food,” Katy says. “So we know what we have to do.”

When we spoke with Katy, she was picking up food for 27 families! “Some are out of work, some are furloughed, some don’t have transportation, some have babies … and they can’t get here,” she says. “So we’re bringing it to them instead.”

She said the best part is the excitement on their faces when they see the food. We’re so grateful for compassionate and kind people like Katy — and generous friends like you, too. It takes a whole community coming together to do the kind of life-uplifting work we do. Thank you!
